How to Reset Canon MP Series Printers and Fix Common Errors?

There are two ways to fix such errors, which are for resetting and hard to reset your printer.

Reset Procedure:

  • Turn on the printer
  • Press and hold the "Reset button" on the printer.
  • While pressing "reset button", press and hold the "Start Color" button.
  • Wait 5 seconds
  • Release the "Start Color" button, and then release the "Reset button"
  • Wait until it starts configuring the printer itself, it will take about 20 seconds.

  • While pressing on the "Tools" button, press and hold the "Reset button"Wait till there is no more bright light on the printer.
  • Release the "Device" button, and then release the "Reset button"

Hard Reset:

Close your computer and wait for it to completely stop. Then, press the Power button on the Canon printer.
Remove power cord from the back of the printer, after the power cord is removed, remove the USB or parallel cable that runs from the printer to the computer. Remove cable from both printer and computer
Plug the USB or parallel cable behind the printer. Make sure the cable is securely dragged to the cable to ensure that it is not loose Connect to the other end of the computer's cable Turn the power button back on the printer. Wait a few minutes for the printer, and then turn on the computer. Log on to the computer and select "Control Panel" from the menu on the "Start" button and select "Printers and Faxes." Double click on the Canon Printer and "Printers" menu. Select "Properties" from the menu and click on the "Print Print Page" button to send a test page to the printer.
